Please join us for the third and final program in our series, "Saving
Sound 3: Audio Digitization and Preservation" at ALA Annual. The
program will be held on Sunday, June 24, from 4-5:30 p.m. in Salon II at
the J.W. Marriott Hotel, 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue, in Washington, DC.
This year's session will focus on the use of new technology for audio
preservation.
Speakers will cover digitization of audio materials, funding
opportunities for audiovisual digitization and preservation,
client/vendor relationships, and preservation of digitized audio
materials. Our speakers include George Blood, President, Safe Sound
Archive; Joyce Ray, Associate Deputy Director for Library Services,
Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS); and Tara Kennedy,
Preservation Field Services Librarian, Yale University Libraries.
The program is designed for librarians who are responsible for audio
collections. Handouts for this and the two previous Saving Sound
sessions will be available on CD. For more information on the session,
please contact Tom Clareson at clareson@xxxxxxxxxxx
